📊 Data We Collect Locally

FeelCalc analyzes behavioral patterns only to calculate your anxiety score:

  • 📈 Scroll speed and variance metrics - How fast and erratically you scroll
  • 🔄 Tab switching frequency - How often you switch between tabs
  • ⏱️ Session duration - Time spent browsing continuously
  • 📂 Content categories - News, social media, educational, etc.
  • 🔍 Keyword density counts - Negative words on social media pages

🚫 Data We NEVER Collect

FeelCalc is designed to be completely private. We do NOT collect:

  • 👤 Personal information - Name, email, age, ID numbers
  • 🌐 Full URLs or web history - No complete browsing history
  • 📄 Website content - Page text, images, videos, hyperlinks
  • 📍 Location data - IP address, GPS coordinates
  • 🔐 Authentication information - Passwords, credentials, PINs
  • 💬 Personal communications - Emails, texts, chat messages
  • 💳 Financial information - Credit cards, transactions
  • 🏥 Health information - Medical history, diagnoses

⏰ Data Retention & Cleanup

All data is automatically deleted:

  • Raw browsing events: Deleted after 24 hours
  • Journal entries: Deleted after 7 days
  • Score history: Kept for 7 days for trend analysis
  • User preferences: Stored until you change them

🎛️ User Control

You have complete control over your data:

  • 🗑️ "Reset Data" button in the extension popup clears all data immediately
  • 🔧 Disable features - Turn off heatmap, grayscale, or interventions
  • ❌ Uninstall extension - Removes all data permanently
  • 👁️ Transparency - All code is open source and auditable

🔒 Security & Privacy Features

  • No external servers: All processing happens in your browser
  • No data transmission: Nothing is sent over the internet
  • No analytics: We don't track extension usage or users
  • No advertising: No ad networks or data monetization
  • Local storage only: Uses browser.storage.local API
  • URL sanitization: Only domain and path, never query parameters

📜 How FeelCalc Works

1. Content Categorization

FeelCalc categorizes pages (news, social, educational) based on domain patterns. Only the category is stored, not the full URL.

2. Behavioral Analysis

Scroll speed, tab switching, and time on page are measured to detect anxiety patterns. These are numerical metrics only.

3. Score Calculation

A weighted algorithm combines all metrics into a 0-100 Feel Score representing current anxiety level.

4. Interventions

When scores are elevated, FeelCalc suggests breathing exercises or grayscale mode. These are optional and user-controlled.
